Hannah Staff’s beautiful painting of a Heron in flight.
9 fantastic pieces of work from Looe Community Academy were recently shortlisted for the Young People’s Art Prize, being displayed at the The Engine Room at The Exchange Gallery Newlyn during the Easter holidays.
The event has been an annual fixture since 2010, and each year there is a particular theme or medium, with a judging panel of artists selecting the shortlist of works to be exhibited from hundreds of entries. This encompasses work from schools and colleges from across the county. This year’s theme was Blue.
Prize winners were announced at a preview of the show, while the visiting public were asked to vote for their favourite piece of work. The 9 pieces of work shortlisted and exhibited showcased a variety of medias. Hannah Staff did very well and gained a third place overall. This was in the 11-13 category for her beautiful painting of a Heron in flight, shown above.
