Textiles students have once again been designing and making dresses and pairs of shorts for children through the charity, ‘Little Dresses for Africa’.
The charity provides templates and patterns so that anyone can make an item of clothing which is then sent to Africa. So far our students have sent 180 small dresses and 30 pairs of shorts which are now being worn by children in need in Malawi. The clothes are made from pillowcases that our students and their parents have kindly donated. Even some staff have been inspired and started sewing to make dresses for young girls.
Students in Year 8 have learnt to use a sewing machine accurately and follow instructions on a pattern. They also designed tags which were embroidered with the words, ‘made by students in Looe Community Academy’. A big well done to all students involved!
