Saltash Community School u16 boys team beat Truro School in a very tense game at Callywith College to win their 4th successive county final. Saltash were dominant in the first half, going 2-0 up and leading 2-1 at half time, but Truro fought back strongly in the second half but couldn’t break down the well organised and resolute Saltash side.
The boys leave school with a very impressive schools county record of 24 wins from 25. Their only defeat coming in their first final when they were just 11 years old. Since losing their first final, they have been on an incredible run, winning 20 games in a row and 4 titles over 4 years.
PE teacher Mr Budd who has managed the team for 5 years said: “I’m very proud of the boys and all they have achieved over their 5 years of school football. They have proven time and time again that they are proud to represent our school
and have a real determination and will to push each other to improve with each performance. They had to dig deep against a strong Truro side in order to secure this win and the qualities they have shown over this time will stand them in good stead for their futures. I would like to place on record “Thanks” for the incredible support we have received from the boys’ families and football coaches over the years, it’s been very much appreciated”
