Mr Lingard, head teacher at Liskeard School and Community College asked students to create a ‘Rainbow Message’ to send to patients who are critically ill at Derriford Hospital.

He said, “As a school, we continually promote the importance of courage, resilience and kindness, so when we heard how upsetting it had been for some families who hadn’t been able to visit their loved ones on ITU, we wanted to do something to help. We asked students to to send in messages of support to critically ill patients and as you can see, their response has been brilliant. We’re really proud of the thought and kindness shown by our young people.”

There has been an amazing response from students with more than 120 messages being sent in.

The messages were collected by one of the senior nurses at Derriford and are now on display in the ITU waiting room.
