Looe Community Academy students wanted to make sure that their neighbours knew that they cared, students and staff from the academy, pulled together to work with the Lions Club of Looe to offer Christmas Hampers to elderly members of the community.

As Looe and its surrounding villages are such small communities it’s hard not to recognise the importance of coming together and supporting one another during this festive time of the year, to bridge the generation gap and to further promote positive community cohesion.

Tutor groups from the academy managed to fill an impressive 18 Hamper boxes with the generous support from local businesses, Spar in West Looe and Cornish Delights. These Hamper boxes will be delivered to homes in the Looe, Lanreath, Widegates, Pelynt and Morval area.

It was such a pleasure handing over the Hampers to Looe Lions knowing that members of our community are going to benefit directly from these boxes.

Mrs Day from Looe Community Academy said: ‘We wanted to connect more with members from our community, offer a gift to someone that might not receive anything this Christmas time and to contribute towards combating loneliness by showing compassion and kindness’.
