Looe Community Academy has commissioned a piece by the elusive Looe Banksy as the Academy salutes the NHS frontline heroes.
The artwork has been named “Nation’s Heroes Saluted” and depicts a stereotypical NHS doctor whose shadow reveals their hidden superhero persona.
Scott Yalden, our Headteacher said:
“Looe’s Banksy often strikes to brighten up the Academy, including funking up the toilet facilities and providing educational treasure trails around the school grounds.
The Academy recognises and wants to celebrate the selfless contributions being made by NHS frontline workers and the Arts is part of our DNA, which is why this is so fitting.
We have our own superheroes too. The Academy has remained open throughout and we have been able to continue contact with our students, thanks to our own dedicated staff. We have issued free school meal vouchers worth over £8,000 to support local families. Some of our staff have signed up as NHS Volunteer Responders.
Furthermore, staff and volunteers are using the specialist textiles teaching resources to make garments for the NHS in what is a real community project.
The Academy wishes everyone well during this era of extreme challenge.”
