We want to congratulate all those young people who have secured their next steps, whether that be a sixth form place to study A Levels, an apprenticeship, a scholarship, a college course, further education, or employment. Well done! And we mean every student who worked hard to achieve their grades and open doors for the next stage of their educational journey!

We are so proud of the resilience, determination, good humour and sheer dedication of our amazing students. Their strong results are testament to individual excellence as well as a fabulous team spirit which drove the whole year group to success.

We are delighted with the overall results and there are also individual subjects which have achieved some of the highest GCSE results recorded in the school under current GCSE frameworks.

This year’s results are a fantastic improvement and demonstrate the strength of our Sixth Form provision, with many students achieving top grades and securing places at leading universities, on competitive apprenticeships, and in employment.

It is exciting to see students thriving and succeeding, ready for their next steps into education, training, and employment. We are proud that so many have secured places at higher education destinations, and that a large number have gained their first-choice degree courses, apprenticeships, further training, and employment.

Mrs Day’s story was one of resilience, perseverance, and sheer determination. Overcoming setbacks, embracing challenges, and pushing past personal limits, she embodied the very essence of a growth mindset. Her achievement was a testament to the power of dedication and belief in one’s potential—values that we strive to instil across all our schools.

We are so proud of the effort, determination, creativity and strength of character displayed by this outstanding group of young people. We have seen huge steps forward in attainment and progress across the year group and we are so excited about a set of results which continue to build on a legacy of success. 

Results demonstrate fantastic school improvement, with the number of grade 9s more than doubling and overall attainment significantly higher than in previous years. This is of course testament to the hard work and dedication of our students and staff, who approached learning and teaching with real commitment, care and enthusiasm. 

Spearheaded by Dr Anne Bull, SMART Schools Primary Advisor, the event kicked off in early June with pupils from the 3 primary schools. Through sessions and workshops, members of the community group Liskeard Poets visited the schools and helped the children to develop their ideas for writing their poems.

Representatives from St Luke’s Hospice visited the school to present the certificate, marking a significant achievement for the entire school community. 

The certification not only acknowledges the existing support systems within the school, but also highlights the presence of a number of trained staff members ready to assist students in need. The school was pleased to host special guests who provided enriching experiences for the children. The students were eager listeners, asking insightful questions throughout the day. Amongst the visitors were Jade from Clean Cornwall, Paddy and Will representing Biffa, Sarah from the Foodbank, and Merlin from Cabilla.

We are delighted that so many students have achieved so well this year, contributing to a very positive set of results. 

The pandemic's impact did not deter these individuals from excelling in GCSEs and other qualifications. The majority achieved grades 4 and above in English and Maths, with nearly 25% attaining grades 7 or higher, equivalent to the previous grade A standard.

Head of Sixth Form, Nicky Hubartt praised students for their ‘staying power, determination and resilience – with hard work and persistence students can achieve excellent results and she is so proud of how well they have done.’

To add an eco-friendly twist to their designs, the students decided to incorporate recycled jars into their creations. Using layers of plywood as their primary material, they set to work creating a sturdy base for the dispenser. They were guided through the process using a range of tools, including a pillar drill, belt sander, and hand drills. The students also learnt how to countersink screws to ensure a high-quality finish for their final products.

Year 6 students were privileged to have an excellent design engineer from Babcock visit them in the morning, providing a valuable opportunity for the children to think about their future careers and how their learning at school prepares them for possible careers.

At Liskeard School and Community College, students had the chance to participate in creative writing and comic book competitions. Several students attended a workshop to hone their skills, share their work, and receive valuable feedback. 

The students and Performing Arts team have worked tirelessly to bring the production to life, showcasing their talent, dedication, and hard work. The award is a testament to their commitment to excellence and their passion for the performing arts.

To make the learning experience more interactive, children were given the opportunity to practice the fire safety position by roasting their own marshmallows. The sight of children gathered around a fire, roasting marshmallows, is a delightful one, but it is also important to ensure that they understand the potential dangers associated with fires.

The team started off the morning by leading the 'Mini Miler' warm up for the younger contingent, before then performing on the course for the main event to spur on and motivate the competitors on the infamous 'hilly and hellish' course.

In attendance were Saltash, Looe, Launceston, Sir James Smith and the hosts with approximately 110 girls participating and demonstrating fantastic application and effort throughout.

It goes without saying that there were many goals scored, shots saved and ferocious tackles and throughout the afternoon, the girls were rewarded for their sportsmanship, resilience, respect and teamwork.

Luckily, Class 3 were learning all about CSI techniques that day so were able to use the evidence left at the scene of the crime to swiftly solve the mystery and identify the culprit.

Poppy's medal design captures the essence of Looe by featuring the iconic bridge that all runners cross at the start of the race. The design was hailed as the winner, and Little Cornish Creative Co. used it to create the final product.

The infants based their artwork on Father Christmas and the Juniors on the Magi.

Despite the considerable challenges they faced, we are delighted to see a continued upward trend in our exam results since 2019. Finn Shearman was our top performer with an impressive eight grade 9s and a grade 7. We are especially proud of Harvey Bellis from our Area Resource Base who has secured GCSE grades in English, Maths and Science. Well done both!

We are especially proud of our top performer, Rachel Frost, who achieved 4 A*s and is now off to study Physics at Durham University. Having achieved a full scholarship, she spent her Summer holiday studying the German language at the prestigious Dresden Trust. Ellie Kevern achieved outstanding results, earning top grades (A*, A, B), and is also the proud recipient of a scholarship to study at the university of Aberystwyth.

Children came to school wearing shades of green, and welcomed Paddy and Will from Biffa who led assemblies and a tour of their recycling truck to help the children develop an understanding of recycling. Both children and staff learnt a lot! A huge thank you to Biffa. 

They also held a competition to make a robot, animal or musical instrument out of recycled materials.

 Everyone was amazing, and even the sun was out most of the time.  Well done to the Red Team who won today!  Thank you one and all.

The Year 11 boys became Cornwall County Champions, winning 1-0 against Richard Lander. It was a closely fought battle against a very strong and physical team. It was a game of very few chances but mid-way through the first half Ellis Fortin scored a delightful goal against the run of play. The boys dominated the second half embodying our TEAM ethos with sheer grit and determination. Every player was phenomenal and even the substitutes shared their fantastic attitude. The team only conceded one goal throughout the whole tournament and were never behind at any point!
