Trewidland School, is a small school sitting within the idyllic Cornish countryside yet is only a 10 minute drive from Liskeard. Our children are aged 4 – 11 years and come to the school from the local village and surrounding areas. We are part of South East Cornwall Multi Academy Regional Trust (SMART).

We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic individual to lead our Wrap Around Club. You would be responsible for leading the day to day organisation of the club, and to provide high standards of care and play opportunities for children in a safe and secure environment within the school setting. You should be a caring and responsible person who is prepared to work flexibly and effectively to ensure the smooth running of the club. Experience of working with children is essential and a qualification in childcare ideally at Level 3 would be preferred. Activities take place both inside and outside the school building so you should enjoy working outdoors regularly.

CREATIVE ARTS TECHNICIAN

We are seeking to appoint a full time Creative Arts Technician to support work in the Creative Arts faculty to cover the maternity leave of a colleague. Due to the broad range of work undertaken within the Arts, the job specification is very wide ranging. We are therefore seeking to appoint a person with a genuine interest in work within all of the Arts and a desire to develop new knowledge, skills and understanding. The Arts faculty is very supportive and has proven to be highly effective in training in-house to develop the technician’s role. External training will be available for the development of specific skills where this is not possible in-house. Experience of working with digital media, sound and lighting would be highly valued. The Creative Arts faculty is a vibrant and energetic area of the school curriculum with a great deal of exciting and interesting projects and initiatives.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to provide additional, targeted support and provision to young people who have special education needs and disabilities.

This is however desirable rather than essential as there will be opportunities to train and gain experience within our specialist setting.

EXAM INVIGILATORS

Hourly rate of £9.25 on casual basis

We are looking to recruit Exam Invigilators on a part time, casual basis to participate in conducting the smooth running of examinations for our students.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have good attention to detail, be flexible and an excellent timekeeper; the ability to handle situations in a calm and logical manner working as part of a team and also independently supporting the Exams Manager.  Experience is not necessary as full training will be provided.

Applicants should be available on an ad hoc basis for exams throughout the year as well as during the main exam series in May and June. Hourly rate on a casual basis is £9.25 per hour.

Tasks include preparing exam rooms, distributing papers and stationery, advising candidates of exam conditions, observing students during the exam ensuring that all regulatory requirements are adhered to. After the exam, you are responsible for collecting exam materials and leaving exam rooms tidy.

LOCAL GOVERNOR VACANCIES

We currently have vacancies on our Local Governing Committees for Co-Opted and Parent Governors.

Being a school governor is a challenging but hugely rewarding role. It will give you the chance to make a real difference to young people, give something back to your local community and use and develop your skills in a board-level environment. You will also be joining the largest volunteer force in the country.

Schools need governing committees that have a balance and diversity of knowledge, skills and experience to enable them to be effective. Ofsted (the national inspection body for schools) has repeatedly noted that the most effective schools demonstrate effective leadership and management – including by the governing committee.

Anyone aged over 18 can be a governor (but there are some exceptions) and you do not need to be a parent. There is no requirement for you to have an understanding of the education system, just the necessary skills, character and time to contribute. Schools need and benefit from a range of professional knowledge on their governing committee including education, finance, human resources, legal, marketing and public relations, property and estates management, and organisational change.

Governors can expect to attend around 6 meetings per year, held either in the afternoon or the early evening.
