    Apprenticeship summary

    What will the apprentice be doing?

    • Supply first line support to staff and students
    • Be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of young people s/he is responsible for, or comes into contact with
    • Carry out daily checks of ICT Suites and other tech equipment
    • Assist in the management of all ICT resources, equipment and software to meet the curriculum and administration needs of the school
    • Maintain and provide support for all aspects of ICT equipment and software
    • Provide support to students and staff via the ICT Support Helpdesk
    • Maintain and issue consumables (e.g. paper and toner cartridges)
    • Keep up to date with new technologies that may benefit the school
    • Keep all workshops and store tidy and clean

    What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

    Training to be provided:

    • Level 3 Information Communications Technician Apprenticeship Standard
    • Apprentices without Level 2 English and maths (A*-C or 9-4 GSCE) will need to achieve this level before the end of their apprenticeship

    You will receive specific on the job training from the employer in your workplace at Saltash Community School. 

    Off the job training will be delivered by Achievement Training using weekly classroom sessions or delivered remotely by the tutor using google classroom for Level 3 Information Communications Technician.

    You will develop knowledge and understanding of:

    • The basic elements and architecture of computer systems
    • Maintenance processes and applying them in working practices
    • The relevant networking skills necessary to maintain a secure network
    • The similarities, differences and benefits of the current operating systems available
    • How to operate remotely and how to deploy and securely integrate mobile devices
    • The importance of disaster recovery and how a disaster recovery plan works
    • The similarities and differences between a range of coding and logic
    • Working knowledge of Cloud and Cloud services

    What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

    Progression opportunities may include a permanent permission with the company after completetion of your apprenticeship. You could progress onto advanced and higher apprenticeships and future career opportunities can equate to:

    • Network engineering
    • Database administration
    • Business or systems analysis
    • IT security
    • IT project management
