Record-Breaking GCSE Success for Liskeard School — Students with SEND Achieve the Best Overall Attainment Ever Seen

Year 11 students at Liskeard School & Community College have achieved excellent GCSE results this summer. Their collective success breaks the school's record for outstanding attainment for the fourth consecutive year, with more students achieving passes and strong passes than at any point since the new-style GCSE was introduced in 2017.
Liskeard School is incredibly proud of students who have worked with inspirational tenacity, kindness and team spirit to achieve so well — an achievement that will allow so many of them to take the next successful step in their education and personal development.
This year, over 67% of all grades were at standard pass or better, 51% were at a strong pass or better, and 16% of the whole cohort achieved the highest grade categories of 7, 8 or 9. In addition, 55% of all vocational grades achieved the highest two grade categories of merit and distinction.
The school is especially proud of how well students with additional needs and challenges have achieved. Students with SEND, and students who have experienced disadvantage, achieved the highest GCSE attainment in the school's recorded history — putting their achievements in line with or above the national average for the first time.
Liskeard School is grateful to its whole school community — staff, parents, carers, families and supporters — for all the contributions they have made to these great success stories.
Headteacher Dan Wendon said: "The hard work, commitment and sense of community from this group of students has been inspirational. The excellent attainment we have seen is built from this fantastic attitude and supported by committed guidance and support from staff. I am thrilled that this strong, supportive group of young people have achieved so well and especially pleased to see another positive step in a four-year upward trend in attainment for all students, including those who have experienced additional challenges."
Assistant Headteacher responsible for Year 11, Ingrid Goudge, said: "What a privilege it has been to be able to work with Year 11 over this last academic year! I am so proud of them for stepping up to the challenges they faced over the year, for being proactive about their own development, and for maximising every opportunity available to them to achieve success. Well done to you!"
Liskeard School is keen to welcome Year 11 students into its Sixth Form and, with such strong GCSE results, anticipates strong interest in places.
